Jim "Hack" Hackett, 70, of Estero, Florida passed away June 1, 2017 after a courageous battle with cancer. A Columbus, Ohio resident and business owner for over 38 years, Jim was preceded in death by his parents Michael M. and Lucille D. Hackett of Fort Myers, FL; sisters Marsha Ann Hackett Hisler, and Monica Lea Hackett Haste of Florida; and infant son, Sean Michael Hackett. Jim is survived by his wife of 42 years, Barbara; son, Brian Patrick Hackett of Columbus; daughter, Joanna Marie Peck (Jason) of Indiana; and Step-son Joseph Scott Lathey of Croton; six grandchildren: Sydney Eden Hackett; Kezia Skye, Charles Jared and Ambra Lucille Peck; Taylor Michelle Lathey Tipton (Ryan) and Emily Ann Lathey Crawford (Joey); and two great-grandchildren, Jace Tipton and Dennis Crawford. He is also survived by his brother, Barry Hackett of Apopka, Florida; sisters, Elaine Hackett and Michele Hackett, special friend "Little Sister" Nadine Murakawa of Louisville, Kentucky, and many many friends. One of Jim's greatest loves was the company he started in 1978, Centurion Office Supply. He prided himself on giving great customer service that was proved by the long standing relationships and friendships with his customers. Jim was an avid golfer. Whether he was playing as a member of the Lakes Golf & Country Club (winning many trophies) or with his favorite weekly threesome at many of the public courses, he just loved to play golf. Jim spent every fall Saturday watching his beloved OSU Buckeyes; on Sundays watching the Cincinnati Bengals; and watching his Cincinnati Reds whenever they played. He always said he never got tired of watching the "Big Red Machine", that was baseball at its best.
Jim was a member of The Aladdin Shrine, The Shrine Chanters and the Royal Order of Jesters. He was extremely honored and proud to serve on the Board of Directors at the in Lexington, KY. He proudly displayed, in his office, the plaque given to him by the Board of Directors as an Emeritus Member in recognition of his many years of dedicated service. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, July 23, 3:00 p.m. at the Aladdin Shrine Center, 1801 Gateway Center, Grove City, OH 43123. A Rose Ceremony, presented by the Royal Court of Jesters, will also be held. The family is requesting in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Jim's memory to Medical Center, 110 Conn Terrace, Lexington, KY 40508; or to Joanne's House, Hope Hospice, 27200 Imperial Parkway, Bonita Springs, FL.
