FIXARI John E. Fixari, Jr., age 75, passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012. Ed, as he was known by his family and friends, was a proud graduate of the University of Notre Dame (Class of '59). He was a passionate fan of his alma mater and all that it represented, including his deep Catholic faith as well as his devotion to Notre Dame football. His professional career was spent as a captain of industry until settling into a short period of retirement. His most extraordinary professional achievement came later in life when he, along with his beloved wife Charlotte, went on to touch the lives of thousands of children as the owners and operators of The Goddard Schools of Pickerington and Reynoldsburg/Blacklick. His kind, warm smile and welcoming hugs provided security and comfort to endless children and their families. And, his hearty laugh was unique and filled every room he entered with extraordinary joy. John Edward is survived by his wife of 54 years. He was so much more than her husband and the father of their children. He was the air that she breathed. They were partners and best friends for more than 60 years. Their love and commitment to one another was unwavering through sickness and in health. It was a true love story that will never be replicated. He is also survived by his children. Kelly (Larry), Scott, Christopher and Samantha (Rex); as well as his 15 grandchildren, Maegan, Ashley, Christopher, Cody, Casey, John E., Tanner, Kohl, Madison, Luke, Beau, Elliot, Alexandra, Gabrielle and Reese; his great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Keller and Spencer; and his sister-in-law, Lois Smith, to all of whom he was affectionately known as "Papa". A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2012 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 684 S. Third St., Columbus, OH 43206. Father Michael Watson celebrating.
