Williams Jon R. Williams, 58, of Columbus, passed away on December 26, 2013 at his home in Santa Barbara, CA. Jon is the son of Vivian R. Mees-Williams and Roderick S. Williams. Born at Grant Medical Center in Columbus on Sept 1st, 1955, Jon attended Eastmoor High School where he was a standout athlete, playing football with the legendary Griffin brothers under head coach Bob Stuart. Jon later attended Coalinga Community College in Fresno, CA where he continued his football career briefly before later earning degrees in Computer Science, Airframe Mechanics and Nursing from the California educational system. Known among friends for his tremendous zest for life and ear-to-ear smile, Jon is survived by his brother, Chris Williams of Sunbury, Ohio; nephews, Sean Williams and Ryan Williams of Columbus and Powell, Ohio; as well as an aunt and uncle, Charles and Charlotte Evans of Colorado Springs, CO; and cousins, Bobby Evans of Colorado Springs and Michael Mees of Modesto, CA. A sunset memorial service will be held at Butterfly Beach in Santa Barbara, CA at 3:30 p.m. PST on Saturday, January 4, 2014. Friends can email with questions.
