Judith Umecker Moffitt, age 73, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on May 14, 2018, in Columbus, Ohio. Judy is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Richard W. Moffitt of Delaware, Ohio; her mother June Umecker of Palos Park, Illinois; her sister Janet Hansen of Chicago Illinois; her beloved son Mark (Jaime) of Powell, Ohio, and adored daughter, Kristen (Fred) Gardini of Marysville, Ohio; and her precious grandchildren, Anthony (A.J.) and Asa Moffitt and Alexandria and Abigail Gardini; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Judy is preceded in death by her father George Umecker of Chicago, Illinois and her brother-in-law Phillip Hansen of Chicago, Illinois. Judy was born on February 20, 1945 in Chicago, Illinois to parents George and June Umecker. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. During her 40 year career she excelled in many roles from Wisconsin to Indiana to Ohio. Judy finished her rewarding career at O'Bleness Hospital, in Athens, Ohio, where she spent 17 years and retired as Vice President of Quality Assurance. Judy cherished her moments with family and was a loving wife and mother. She was a devoted grandmother who took part in all of her grandkids interests and rarely missed a baseball game or gymnastics meet. She was socially active, an avid bridge player and loved to cook. She enjoyed traveling and always relished her cruises to many destinations of the world. A Memorial Service will be held at Liberty Presbyterian Church in Delaware, Ohio on Thursday, May 31, 2018. The service will begin with visitation at 11 am followed by a memorial service at noon with a reception at 1 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Judy's life.
