Kathleen (Flaherty) Fochtman Obituary
Fochtman Kathleen Fochtman (nee Flaherty), formerly of Sag Harbor, NY, and Upper Arlington, passed away surrounded by her loving family at Willow Brook Assisted Living Center on April 6, 2017. Born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Mae (Cahill) and Edward Flaherty, Sr. She is preceded in death by loving husband Gerard, her parents, brother Edward Flaherty, Jr., infant grandson Robert Wetzel, and special niece Ellen Eisenberg. While working as a switchboard operator in New York City, she met her husband Gerard on a blind date. Jerry's career kept the family on the East Coast until their move to Upper Arlington in the 1970s. Kathleen was a supporting wife and mother to their five children, and found time to volunteer in classrooms, Girl Scouts, and the Church. She availed herself to those in need. As her loving family would say, "she never met a stranger." She is survived by her devoted children, Anne (Steve) Barnes, Kathleen (Joe) Fochtman-Gambs, Mary (Lloyd) Wetzel, Fred (Peg) Fochtman, Patricia (John) Price. Also survived by grandchildren, Kate (Steve) Sparks, Daniel, Maggie (fiance Ryan Moll), and Edward Barnes, Megan and Brennan Gambs, Lauren and Jennifer Wetzel, Jack, Maeve, Francis, and Emmet Price; great-granddaughters, Nora and Stella Sparks; and a host of much-loved nieces, nephews, and friends. All are welcome from 5-8 p.m. Sunday, April 9, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 10, 2017 at St. Agatha Catholic Church, 1860 Northam Rd. Father Daniel Ochs Celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family would like to suggest memorial contributions to St. Vincent dePaul Society. Special thanks to the staff of Willow Brook Assisted Living for their dedicated care and friendship. To share memories or condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com.
