Kathryn Paula Heinzerling Obituary
Heinzerling Kathryn Paula Heinzerling, age 83, passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2017. She was born on July 14, 1933 in Richwood, Ohio to the late Thaddeus and Helen (Cahill) Sieg. Kathryn graduated from The Ohio State University earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. A career she dearly loved. She practiced Nursing at The Ohio State University Hospital where she was manager of the Emergency and Radiology Departments. She then went on to teach at The Ohio State University College of Nursing. After the death of her husband in 1989, she became the executive director of the Heinzerling Foundation until she retired in 2001. Throughout her life, Kathryn influenced and touched many lives. She was a "mother" for so many, as well as an incredible mentor. She was "one of a kind" with a vibrant personality. Kathryn was very active and enjoyed many activities such as tennis, golf, snow skiing, symphony pops, and spending every summer with her family at the cabin at Torch Lake, Michigan. She was a lifelong member of First Community Church where she served on the governing board and she was an active member of Columbus Rotary. She was also involved with Navy Wives Club, Sigma Theta Tau, Executive Women's Golf and countless other community activities. Kathryn will be dearly missed by her children, Linda (Terry Schieber), Bob and Karen (Rick Hatcher); grandchildren, Jack, Tyler, Kathryn Elise, Kendall and Claire; sister, Janet Sieg; brother, Thad Sieg; special sister-in-law, Judyth Clarkson; nieces and nephews; Companion, Robert Ariss; and dear friends, Micheline Silva and The Bridge Club; plus so many others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Dr. Robert A. Heinzerling. Family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road, Upper Arlington, Ohio 43212. Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at First Community Church, 1320 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212, with a reception immediately following.
