Obituary Condolences

Tate Kenneth M. "Kenny" Tate, age 60, of Centerburg, passed away early Friday, January 10, 2014 at the Ross Heart Hospital in Columbus following a month long hospital stay. He was a graduate of Mifflin High School in 1971. It was there that he met his high school sweetheart Lonajean Abdon. They wed in Newport, Kentucky in 1972 and together shared 41 wonderful years, raising a family and building a home. In 1987 they moved to Centerburg to his little piece of heaven and where he built his wife a home. An electrician by trade with 40 years of service, he was a member of IBEW Local No 683. A proud commercial electrical foreman, he loved his work and especially working high voltage jobs. A member of the Centerburg Church of Christ congregation, he enjoyed mowing grass and attending car shows. He had a passion for classic street rods, especially his original 1970 orange Nova and was currently working on a 1947 Chevy Coupe. Always a huggable teddy bear, he was one that would always try to push your buttons. He liked to tease and flirt with the ladies. Proud and supportive, he was quite likeable. A fan of old western's, he was happiest with his family. In addition to his wife Lonajean, he is also survived by daughters, Malkia (Glen) Dever of Canal Winchester, Jermisha (Brandon) Harry of Centerburg; grandchildren, Victoria, Tyler, Hannah; father, Kenneth H. Tate of Canal Winchester; mother-in-law, Earlene Abdon of Mt. Gilead; K-9 Labs, Max and Mattie; and feline, Dakota. He was preceded in death by his mother Rowena (Croston) Tate and father-in-law Gene Abdon, and dear friend Kenny Craft. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Monday at the DeVORE-SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, St. Rt. 3 at 61, Sunbury, where service will be held Tuesday 1 p.m. Interment Eastview Cemetery in Centerburg.
