Kenneth Sowers "Kenny", 90, of Circleville, went to his heavenly home on November 4, 2017 while surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 5, 1926 to the late Kenneth E. and Dora (Fowler) Sowers of Circleville. Kenny was a WWII Navy veteran and served 2 1/2 on the USS Drayton Destroyer. He enlisted when he was 17 years of age, finishing his schooling upon completion. At one time Kenny was declared missing in action. He retired from Dupont with 26 years of service in 1980. Kenny was a Cub Scout leader in the 1960's. One of his special memories was a banquet that Neil Armstrong was in attendance as a guest speaker. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he was proud of his family. He and his wife enjoyed many good times together taking trips and cruises. He was at his best surrounded by his family and God. Kenny enjoyed reading and studying the Bible. He enjoyed history and was into genealogy for many years researching his family. Kenny liked to collect picture post cards old and new of Circleville and Pickaway County. Kenny is survived by the love of his life, Helen (Whaley) Sowers; children, Dennis (Kathy) Sowers of Florida and Penny (Rick) Congrove of Circleville; grandchildren, Shane (Angie) Congrove of Kingston, Jason (Billie) Rhoads of Circleville, Davina (Dean) Martin of Ashville, Alisa Moebs of Circleville, Heather Sowers of Arkansas; 10 great grandchildren; brother, Robert Sowers of Columbus; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by his brothers Issac, Marion and Wilson and sisters Emma Jo Ruff and Vera Jean Riffe. Funeral service will be held 11 am Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Wellman Funeral Home, Circleville. Burial will be in Forest Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Kenny desired memorial contributions be made to the , American Parkinson Disease Assoc. or Berger Hospice. Online condolences can be made to www.wellmanfuneralhomes.com.
