Lena Mae Evans Obituary
Evans Lena Mae Evans, age 86, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. She was born October 17, 1930 in Columbus to Harry and Emma Frances Starkey. She graduated from West High School, January class of '48, and married Carl A. Evans on January 16, 1949. Lena retired from N.A. Rockwell with 26 years of service. She devoted time to her hobbies....flower arranging, dolls and ceramics and enjoyed her Bible study group. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gahanna. Lena especially enjoyed spending time with her family and leaves behind her devoted husband of 68 years, Carl; beloved children, Peggy Evans, Gary (Alice) Evans and C. Dennis (Mary Ellen) Evans; grandchildren, Traci (Jeff) Taute, Brian (Beth) Evans, Allison Evans, Andrew (Maranda) Martin, Bethany (Jordan) Guhl and Holly (Bryan) Levin; great-grandchildren, Lexi and Carli Taute, Bryce and Macy Evans and Blakely Guhl; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers Gerald and Harry Jr. Starkey and sisters Delia Lowe and Wanda Kimble. Lena's family would like to extend a special thank you to Mt. Carmel Hospice, ComforCare Aids and especially to Lena's daughter Peggy, whose loving care allowed Lena to remain in the comfort of her home. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL, 1051 E. Johnstown Rd., Gahanna, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Pastor Tom Dove, officiating.
