Carter Lillie Sue Carter, died Saturday Feb. 8, 2014. Preceded in death by husband Roosevelt, parents Jessye Caver and Rosetta Crosswhite, beloved Aunt and Uncle Ada and John Nichols and cousin Jesse Nichols. Survived by daughter, Lynn Carter; sister, Elizabeth Caver; and cousin, Joseph Perry. Sue's faith and family defined Sue's life, and who she was as a person. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church for 48 years, where she served as a member of parish council and as hospitality coordinator. Sue considered being a mother and homemaker the most important and rewarding role in her life. She was a dedicated wife to Roosevelt Carter for over 30 years, until she lost him after a lengthy illness. Together, they raised Lynn, to whom she imparted wisdom and love until the very end. She was active in the community, serving as a volunteer with Friends in Action and the Urban League Guild. She was also a member of Jack and Jill of America Incorporated. Sue never met a stranger, and she will be missed by those whose lives she touched. Friends may call Wednesday 4-7 p.m. at EGAN-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 403 E. BROAD ST. Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 10:30 a.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 2692 E. Fifth Ave. Burial St. Joseph Cemetery.
