Lloyd G. Evans Obituary
Evans Lloyd G. Evans was born on June 26, 1926 in California, Pennsylvania. His parents were Joseph and Elizabeth (Muckie) Evans. Lloyd had an older sister, Doris Jean Bomeli and younger brother, Clyde W. Evans. He graduated from North High School (Columbus, OH) in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1946, served a tour of duty in Japan right after the end of WWII and was honorably discharged in 1947. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics Education from The Ohio State University in 1950. Lloyd earned his Masters Degree in Mathematics Education in 1966. He served as a public school teacher for his entire career with two years in Kenton, OH and 27 years with the Columbus Public Schools teaching mathematics at Crestview Junior High School. He was a well-respected, outstanding teacher, teaching thousands of students over his career. He served as a summer Park Ranger during three summers (1961, 1962, and 1963) at Glacier National Park in Montana. He was a great man of faith, serving as an excellent role model by living life with friendliness, kindness, compassion, integrity and always a positive outlook! Lloyd married the love of his life Donna L. Sigler in 1958. Lloyd and Donna had three children, Nancy L. Evans-Donley, Gary M. Evans, and Robert J. Evans. He was a loving, fun, nurturing father and grandfather and is survived by his daughter, Nancy L. Evans-Donley and her son, Sayre Lloyd Donley; his son, Gary M. Evans, Gary's wife, Lynn W. (Walker) Evans and their three children, Joshua W. Evans, Emily G. Evans and Colson M. Evans; his son, Robert J. Evans and his wife, Debbie A. (Weber) Evans; as well as many nieces and nephews. Lloyd was a lifetime member of the Wheaton Club, an organization for those with a common interest in birds, wildlife and nature. He and Donna were actively involved at North Broadway United Methodist Church for over fifty years. Lloyd served as a summer camp counselor at Camp Willson YMCA camp in Bellefontaine, OH throughout the 1950s. He enjoyed camping and traveling with Donna and his family. Lloyd passed away on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the age of 90 years old. Calling hours will be this Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. at RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High Street, Worthington, OH 43085. His life will be celebrated Friday, May 5th 2017 at 1 p.m. at North Broadway United Methodist Church, 48 E. North Broadway St., Columbus, OH, 43214.
