Blom Lois Jean Blom, 85, of Bristol Village in Waverly, Ohio, passed away Friday evening, March 24, 2017 at the Adena Pike Medical Center in Waverly, Ohio. She was born January 17, 1932 in LeMars, Iowa, the daughter of the late Harry John DeBeer and Esther (Reeverts) DeBeer. On June 12, 1952 Lois was united in marriage to Donald Blom. They were married for 54 years before he passed away in 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother Leonard DeBeer. Survived by her son, David (Kris) Blom of Westerville, Ohio; two daughters, Ruth Holzapfel of Columbus, Ohio and Colleen Tyler of Chicago, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Rachel (Michael) Haugk, Jennifer (Andrew) Pickett, Erica (Matthew) Dunkin, Joel Holzapfel, Kara Holzapfel, Casey (Dan Eakin) Holzapfel, Alexa Tyler and Mark Tyler; and four great-grandchildren, Madison Haugk, Charlie Haugk, Audrey Haugk and Ava Pickett; as well as loving nephews and nieces and many dear friends. Lois was a faith filled, devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who had a loving spirit and servant's heart. She was a homemaker, music educator, artist, and was very active with the art program at Bristol Village. Her drawings were admired by many, and several of her colored pencil creations received awards in local art contests. She loved reading, genealogy, gardening, and caring for her pets. Lois received a degree in education from Northwestern Junior College in Orange City, Iowa, where she met her husband Don. She taught in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Holland, Michigan, and Lisbon, Ohio, all places where her husband held pastorates. She helped to initiate the "Help" program in Lisbon, a source of clothing and food for low income individuals. She taught piano to students of all ages in her piano studio in Copley, Ohio for many years. A celebration of her life will be held at the Bristol Village Activity Center at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 15, 660 E. 5th St., Waverly, Ohio.
