Quilty Lorraine Ann Quilty, of Rocky River, Ohio, loving wife, mother and grandmother died at home Wednesday, July 10, 2013 after losing her battle with colon cancer. Family, neighbors and friends attest she brightened whatever environment she entered with her always present smile and warm sprit. Born June 22, 1940 in Massillon, Ohio, the 2nd of three daughters to Norman and Dorothy Slicker, she is survived by her beloved husband, Dr. James F. Quilty, Jr.; and children, James "J" F. III, Jennifer, Christopher, and Leslie; along with her sister, Mary Jane Slicker Rhodes. Also surviving her are her son-in-law, Robert Montgomery (Jennifer); and her daughter-in-law, Dr. Pariyasoot "Yui" Intasuwan (J); and her six grandchildren, Miles, McKenna, Quinn, Kieran, Ennis and Fynan; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. Oldest sister, Sheila Slicker Brannon, preceded her in death. She and her family loved to travel all over the world, living at various times in Saint Louis, Port Orchard, WA, Bangkok, Thailand, Columbus, Ohio and visiting such places as New Zealand, Tuscany, Hawaii, Ireland, Bali, England, and Amsterdam. She was a lover of books, a painter and photographer as well as an active tennis player and avid gardener until her illness stole her strength. A lifelong Ohio State Buckeyes fan, she loved to watch sports of all kinds, including baseball, tennis and especially the Cleveland Cavaliers. She enjoyed music the most and spent her final days listening to Mozart, Bach, Miles Davis, Yo Yo Ma and Mel Torme. A Celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 20 from 2-5 p.m. at the family home in Rocky River. Flowers from your gardens or a memory of Lorraine to share would add character to our Celebration. Donations in her name may be made to MetroHealth's Friends of Mothers & Infants or to your special organization. Please check her Facebook page www.facebook.com/laquilty for more information.
