Obituary Condolences

Wagner Margaret A. Wagner, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2017 in Highland Park, IL. She was 98 years old. She was a wartime bride, marrying Col. Robert E. Wagner (then a 1st Lt) on June 1, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1999. During their lifetime they owned and operated Varsity Drug in Columbus. Margaret was the daughter of Warren and Helen Orendorff of Columbus. She is also preceded in death by her son-in-law Dennis Cligrow. She was the loving and devoted mother of two daughters, Susan Cligrow of Westerville and Sally (David) Bowers of Winnetka, IL. She was the loving nana of five grandchildren, Nancy (DJ) Miller, Carrie (Kiran) Murthy, Sarah (Jason) Young, Ashley (Peter) Cladouhos and Whitman (Abha) Bowers and eight great grandchildren; sister, Sue (William) Kerr of Surprise, AZ; and several nieces and nephews. In 2002, she became engaged to Arlan McPherson of Urbana, IL (now deceased) a long-time friend who served in the same artillery battalion as Col. Wagner during the war. They met again as widowers 18 years ago. Margaret was a member of Overbrook Presbyterian Church, Clintonville Women's Club, and Women's Pharmacy Club. She was also very fond of traveling to see the wonders of the United States. Funeral Service will be Monday, May 8, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Messiah, 51 N. State St., Westerville, OH 43081. Reverand Linda Scott officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
