GELDERLOOS Mark Irwin Gelderloos, age 66, passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2012, at Kobacker House after a long battle with brain cancer. He was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on July 7, 1946. He attended Calvin College and graduated from the University of Michigan with a BS in Engineering. He then earned his MBA from the University of Dayton. Mark worked as a civil engineer in Columbus for 34 years, most recently at White Castle System, Inc. as Director of Engineering and Construction. He was a longtime member of Olentangy Church, and he volunteered with Habitat for Humanity and Neighborhood Services Inc. Mark enjoyed golf, traveling, hiking, and University of Michigan sports. He loved spending time with his family at Lake Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Mamie Gelderloos and brother Calvin Gelderloos. Mark is survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara Gelderloos; children, Daniel Mark (Vicki) Gelderloos and Laura Jean (Brian) Polese; siblings, Orin (Charlotte) Gelderloos, Karen (Merle) Hoekstra, and Duane Gelderloos; grandchildren, Ryan, Will, and Luke Gelderloos, and Casey Ann Polese; several nieces and nephews; and many wonderful friends. Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, November 16, 2012, at the SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Road. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday at Olentangy Church, 3660 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity MidOhio; Neighborhood Services Inc.; or to Kobacker House, c/o the OhioHealth Foundation.
