Martha H. Boydston, age 82, passed away on July 17, 2017 at Sunrise of Dublin, in Dublin, Ohio. She was born to the late John S Herbert and Martha Foster Herbert in Nashville, Tennessee on October 7, 1934. She attended Hillsboro High School and Vanderbilt University. In addition to her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Rodney Orris Boydston; and daughter, Donna Marjorie Cochron. She is survived by her daughters, Beth (Cameron) Stubbs of Marietta, Georgia, Randy Sue (Kevin) McClure of Dublin, Ohio, Robin Lee (Donald) Rose of Dublin, Ohio; grandchildren, John Cameron, Martha Bradford, Sarah Grace, Shelly, Heather, Danielle, Nicholas, Craig, Chip, Robert; brother, Sam Herbert; sister, Alva Herbert Wilk; and devoted caregiver, Patricia Hoskinson. Martha was very active in her church, where she served in many capacities including Sunday school teacher, deacon, elder, office volunteer, and unofficial church gardener. She had a career in primary education for almost 40 year. Her favorite job was as a First Grade teacher at Robert Frost Elementary in Westerville, Ohio. She loved the moment when a student first realized they could really read. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, spending time with her family and friends, and playing bridge. Her favorite bridge club was "the bridge club that didn't play bridge." It was made up of 4 friends who once taught together, but still cherish their friendship and adventures 35 years later. Martha and Rodney spent many happy years travelling, antiquing, giving dinner parties for neighbors and friends, visiting their children and grandchildren, and exercising at the Griswold Center.
Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, July 20 from 6:00 – 8:00pm at Overbrook Presbyterian Church (4131 N High St, Columbus, OH 43214). A Celebration of Life service will be held on Friday, July 21 at 2:00pm at Overbrook Presbyterian Church. At a later date, Martha will be buried in Nashville with her family at the Historic Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Martha's name to the Pastor's Mission Fund of Overbrook Presbyterian Church or The Alzheimer's Foundation of America (AFA).
