Mary Carroll Obituary
Carroll, Mary
1929 - 2017
Mary Dolores (Nowlin) Carroll, born March 25, 1929 to Margaret (Miller) and Charles Nowlin, passed away peacefully Sunday, November 5, 2017, of natural causes just 34 days following the loss of her husband of 62 years, William "Bill" Carroll. Mary and Bill met at a YMCA dance and married in 1955. An advocate for life coupled with a strong devotion to Christ, Mary is survived by their nine children, Robert (Debbie), William (Doris), Barbara Carroll Raines (Brian), Mary Humphrey (Robert *deceased), Deborah Stemen (David), Catharine Lees (Timothy), Margaret Frumkin (Adam), Dianne Carroll, and Frederick (Barbara); 22 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Born in Columbus, Ohio during the Whooping Cough epidemic and not expected to survive, Mary was affectionately known as "Baby Girl Nowlin" as she found on her birth certificate. In addition to dancing, her interests included photography, accounting, and shopping. Mary embraced a sharp sense of humor, subscribed to the philosophy of "make-do, do-over, and do-without or do-again", stretched a dollar further than most, and was the original extreme couponer who loved Little Debbie's. Mary will be remembered for her deep faith and constant prayer. Funeral arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHEAST CHAPEL at 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, Ohio, where family will welcome friends on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 between 5-8 PM. (7:30 PM Prayer Service). Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Therese Retreat Center, 5277 East Broad Street, Columbus, OH 43213 at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to the Kinder Women's Care Center at 935 East Broad Street, Columbus, Ohio 43205. We would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to our sisters, Barbara Carroll Raines, Deborah Stemen, and Margaret Frumkin, for their selflessness in providing such extraordinary and loving care for our parents.
