Mary Ellen Basbagill, 82, of Delaware, passed away, September 30, 2017,at Riverside Methodist Hospital, after a short illness. Mary Ellen was born April 26, 1935, at home in Delaware, Ohio to the late Leo Nicholas Basbagill and Winifred (nee Emde) Basbagill. Mary Ellen was a member of the Delaware St. Mary High School graduating class of 1953 and Ohio Wesleyan University's class of 1957. She graduated with a degree in accounting and went to work for the Internal Revenue Service. She left the IRS to start Basbagill and Basbagill Public Accounting with her brother. She later went to work for The Delaware County Bank and Trust where she retired as the Controller. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church. She was a long time member of Kiwanis and Women's City Club. Mary Ellen loved to travel and follow Notre Dame football. Left to cherish her memory are brothers Thomas (Judy) Basbagill of Delaware, Ohio and Leo (Barbara) Basbagill of Milford, Connecticut. Sister in Law Margaret Basbagill of Denver, Colorado. Also surviving, are nieces and nephews Sue (John) Depeano, Kristin Basbagill, Michael (Sheila) Basbagill, Kevin Basbagill, Brian Basbagill, Kathleen Basbagill, Mary (Danny) Erwin, and Gregg (Fran) Basbagill. She had several great nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents and brother William Basbagill of Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either St. Mary School or St. Mary Church, 82 E. William St., Delaware, Ohio, 43015.Visitation will be Tuesday, from 4pm to 7pm at Robinson Funeral Home in Delaware where a prayer service will be held at 4:30 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Wednesday at 10 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Delaware. Burial will follow at St. Mary Cemetery.
