Muckensturm OP Dominican Sister of Peace Mary Emma Muckensturm died at Mohun Health Care Center on Tuesday, November 12, 2013. She was born in Lancaster, OH, on July 15, 1926, to Francis and Emeline (Hallarn) Muckensturm. Sister was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers Albertus, Gerald and Phillip Muckensturm; and by sisters Mary Catherine McAffee, Bernadine King, and Eleanor Evans Calkins. She is survived by her sister, Madeline Probasco; and many devoted nieces and nephews. Sr. Emma entered the Novitiate of the Dominican Sisters of Peace, formerly St. Mary of the Springs, in Columbus in 1951 and made her Profession of Vows in 1953. She earned a BS from St. Mary of the Springs College (now Ohio Dominican University) ministered in the Diocese of Columbus at St. James the Less, Columbus (1958-63); St. Francis, Newark (1970-72); St. Mary, Lancaster (1975-80); Sacred Heart Grade School, Coshocton (1980-84); and Sacred Heart Parish, Coshocton (1984-2003). She also ministered in Marietta, OH, and in Michigan and Pennsylvania. She served as a parish minister in Coshocton before coming to Mohun Health Care Center in 2003. Reception of the Body will take place in the Motherhouse on Thursday, November 15 at 3 p.m. Evening Prayer of Office for the Dead with Sharing of Memories will be held at 4:45p.m., with viewing continuing until 7 p.m. The funeral liturgy will be on Friday, November 15, at 9 a.m., followed by burial in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
