Smyth Maud A. Smyth was born on March 2, 1935 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and died May 8, 2017 in Pickerington, Ohio. She was the fourth of eight children born to Hugh and Sarah Wright. Maud married her husband of 61 years, Rev. Norman Smyth, on August 18, 1956 and served with him in churches in England, Ireland, and the United States. Most of their ministry together was in the state of Missouri where they served the United Methodist Church for 33 years, most of that time in the greater Kansas City area. As a beautiful singer, she had a singing ministry in Belfast for a number of years before her marriage and in all the churches she served. Maud was preceded in death by her infant son Norman K. Smyth, by her parents Hugh and Sarah Wright, her sister and brother-in-law Elizabeth and James Coard, her brother and sister-in-law Alec and Elsie Wright, brother Hugh Wright; and brother-in-law Jimmy Adams. She leaves behind her ever-loving and grieving family; husband, Norman; daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Greg Stickney; son and daughter-in-law, Colin and Kelley Smyth; four grandchildren, Megan and Drew Stickney, Cruise and Daytona Smyth; and adopted grandson, Josh McMarrow. Maud was greatly loved and admired by all who knew her. Her departure leaves an enormous gap in the lives of her family who now commend her to the care and keeping of Almighty God-------"Safe in the arms of Jesus."
