Merle L. Reich Obituary
Reich Merle L. Reich, 68, of Gahanna, OH, passed away on April 10, 2017. He was born in Woodsfield, OH, August 28, 1948, a son of the late Clarence and Melba (Heft) Reich. Merle graduated from Woodsfield High School in 1966 and The Ohio State University in 1970. Merle was a lifelong member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Woodsfield. He had a 40 year career in sales for Diem & Wing/Ris Paper Company. He had a love of all sports, especially The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and had a passion for playing golf. He was a member of the Highlands Country Club in Pataskala, OH, for over 40 years and took many golfing trips with his friends. Merle is survived by a sister, Mary E. (Matt) Bartilson of Hilliard, OH; and a brother, Paul (Darla) Reich of Middletown, OH. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Annette (Pete) Lieb, Ellen (Terry) Woodford, Bryan (Myra) Bartilson, Kirk Reich, and Kori (Scott) Markle; many grandnieces and grandnephews and a special cousin and lifelong friend, Steve (Joyce) Heft, and many close friends. In addition to his parents, Merle was preceded in death by a special friend Jackie Lindsay and a special companion dog, Rootbeer. Friends may call on April 14 from 4-8 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER FUNERAL HOME, 1051 East Johnstown Road, Gahanna, OH. An open grave side service will be held at 11 a.m. on April 15 at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Woodsfield, OH. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Merle's care givers from Home Helpers, especially his primary care giver, Tiana Green.
