Myrtle Lee Scales Obituary
SCALES Mother Myrtle Lee Scales, age 70, born September 23, 1942. She made Heaven her eternal home on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Villa Angela Care Center. Faithful member of Ebenezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. L.C. Brown Sr., then serving faithfully in many offices under the leadership of Bishop Michael A. Dickerson. Retired in 2008 from the Department of Development after 25 years of service. Mother Scales was blessed with a beautiful voice and sang with the Ohio Trumpeteers, Spiritual Voices of Columbus and served as mother and mentor groups such as the Lyric Supremes, Lyles Family, Pastor LaMarr Scales and Company. Preceded in death by her parents Rev. James and Stella Scales, brothers John and Clarence Scales, sisters Evang. Annie M. Edwards, Elder Dorretha Hawkins, Rebecca and Beatrice Scales, friend and father of her children, Edward Collins. Survived by her loving children, Pastor E. LaMarr (Dr. Brandi) Scales and Marion Lorrissa Scales (Samuel Owens); sisters, Rev. Lillie Williams of Bluefield, WV, Elder Frances (Ernest) Jordan of Cleveland, OH; brother and loving caregiver, James (Linda) Scales; sisters-in-law, Marian Scales and Diane (Charles) Hale; grandchildren, Tomika, Delvonta', Sherrelle, Jeffery III, Janae' and Nicholas; great grands, Iola "Lil Tookie", Neveha, Izaria, Jaborie; best friends, Cassaundra (Dale) Gwynn and Lorie (Eddie) Roquemore; and a host of godchildren, adopted children, nieces, nephews, relatives, church family and friends. Musical Celebration of Life, Thursday, December 13, 2012 from 6:30-9 p.m. at The Word Church, 115 Wilson Ave., Columbus, OH. Celebration of Life Service, Friday, December 14, 2012 at Ebenezer Baptist Church, 4500 Refugee Rd., Columbus, OH. Bishop Michael A. Dickerson, Eulogist.
