Bennett Naomi Lee Lynch Bennett, passed away on June 8, 2017 at the age of 95 at Friendship Village of Dublin, Ohio, where she had been a resident since 2014. Preceded in death by her husband Jim, in 2014, her parents James Perry and Nellie Elizabeth (Hurst) Lynch and a brother James "Sonny" Lynch. She is survived by her three children: daughters, Judy Chester of North Canton, Ohio, and Marjorie Stephens of Knoxville, TN; and son, Steve (Karen) Bennett of Westerville, Ohio. She was the proud "Grandma Lee" to six grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Lee was born in Salem, WV, on May 8, 1922 and was the valedictorian of Salem High School's class of 1940. Lee and Jim were married on January 23, 1943 and celebrated their 71st anniversary in 2014. She attended Salem College and nurses training for a time but chose another path when Jim enlisted in the Army Air Forces in October of 1943. After raising her family, she reentered Nurses training and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio in 1964. After moving to Worthington, Ohio, she worked at Battelle Memorial Institute as the onsite nurse but was most passionate about her time at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, from 1963 to 1971 where she was the head nurse in the Emergency Room. Lee and Jim retired to Cape Coral, Florida in 1976. She was an active participant in the music program at Cape Coral United Methodist Church as a member of the Sanctuary Choir and the Bell Choir. She was a member of the Asbury Sunday School Class and was their pianist for many years. In November 2014, she moved to Friendship Village of Dublin where she made many new friends and enjoyed participating in a variety of activities. She always loved playing games, especially dominoes and cards - Bridge, Rook and Euchre. Upon her return to Ohio in 2014, Lee rejoined the Worthington United Methodist Church after having previously been a member from 1964-1971. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 12, 2017, at the RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME, 515 High St., Worthington, Ohio 43085 at 12 noon with Pastor Cyndy Garn officiating. Visitation for friends and family will be from 11 a.m.-12 noon prior to the service. Burial at Union Cemetery, Columbus.
