Dear Ray and Family of Pam,
How saddened I was when I read Ms. Laney article on 12/27/09 to read that my dear friend had passed two months earlier. Pamela was such a sweet spirit and although we had not spoken in awhile my Mother and I had just talked about her and Ray and the BBQ's at the house. I first met Pam when she wrote my article for the Columbus Metropolitan Literacy Award, then on the Lupus front and many more ways. We loved her so. Ray, I know you miss her because you were so close, keep your hand in Gods hand and your eyes on The Lord as He continues to bless you and your family through it all!

Dear Ray and Brothers and Sisters to Pam,
How saddened I was when I read Sunday 12/27/2009 Columbus Dispatch article on Ms. Laney, {the other pioneer in journaling}, that my dear friend Pamela had passed. Pam and I met and our paths crossed on many arenas. We first met when she wrote an srticle about me when I received the Columbus Metropolitan Library Literacy Award and then again on the Lupus front. Our spirits met and bonded. Pam was a sweet heart. Ray , I know you are missing her, but keep your hand in The Lords and your Eyes on the Prize. My family wants to express our heartfelt sympathy to you and your family during this time. May God Bless you and keep you!

Dear Thornton Family and Friends, The gentle rays of love that Pamela bathed us in, the clothes of dignity and grace she clothed us with each week refreshed our spirits. Your labor with the Columbus Post has truly been a healing blessing to us. Thank you cousin Pam. We love you. We feel proud of you.

To the Family,
I was going to call Pam the last week of Oct. to thank her for doing an article for the Columbus Black Nurse Association some time back. I had thank her then but she was really heavy on my my mind that week. Pam was willing to help out at a moments notice and had a very loving and kind spirit about herself.
May the blood of Jesus cover the the family during this difficult time.

Dear Ray,
I feel so sorry for your loss. I remember you two were very close. I know when Jesus went to resurrect Lazarus he gave way to tears (John 11:35). He knew Lazarus was going to be resurrected and he gave way to tears. I can't imagine what you are going through. I know you have a strong faith. I pray for you and your family. May thiese days be spent in soulful reflection of the happy times that you two had.

To the family of Pamela Ann Gleason-Thornton, I was so very blessed to know her and become her friend back in 1993 when I joined the Macedonia Baptist Church, she was such a radiant personality with a warm spirit. Not only that, she assisted in publicizing the many "positive" community events and causes here in Columbus, Ohio showcasing our cities best whether it was a church event or a social/politicial endeavor. I put her journalism skills and know how right up there with Walter Cronkrite and Ed Bradley, with the best...
God bless you, her family with her wonderful memories and her wonderful presence in spirit.

I had the pleasure of working with
Pam at the Columbus Post for more than a year and I can say unequivocally that she was one of the most engaging, personable and hardest-working people I've ever known. Kind, generous and warm-spirited, she made every day a joy and treated everyone with friendly optimism. She truly was one-of-a-kind, and she will be missed terribly.

I just wanted to express my condolences to the family of Pam Thornton. I knew Pam from meeting her through a mutual friend, and hairdresser. She along with a few other ladies honored me with their presence in celebration of my birthday one year. I am only now realizing what an honor it was to know that she took time out of her busy life to help me celebrate it. She was a very nice, sweet and intelligent person. I was sorry to hear of her passing, I can tell that she was greatly loved by many and will be missed. My heartfelt sympathy in your loss. May the peace of God that passes all understanding comfort you as you take this journey.

Pam was a very giving and loving person. She didnt care about a persons past, only their futrue. she wanted everyone to do well in their lives and always stood by them. I've known Pam and Ray ever since i moved here with my mom and sister, and met them both through my aunt. Pam was so sweet. I could tell just by being in her presents that she was one of the most caring people i would ever met. Im sad she is gone, however, shes no longer in pain, and can watch over us. we love you pam.

I am truly sorry to hear that my Sister-In-Christ has passed away. She was such a giving person and helped put my sports training company "on the map" by writing stories about any Basketball Tournaments or clinics we held. Anything that I needed, she made sure we'd have proper placement. She was such a sweetheart!!! Rest in Peace, my friend. My prayers are with you and your family.

What a dear, kind woman and true professional. I actually remember when Pam (we called her Pammy) was born...we lived in the house across the alley on Lechner Avenue on Columbus' Westside. Oh, the joy Pam bought into that entire family. Although we moved from that house in the late 60's, I would run into Pam years later at various events she was photographing. I truly admired the wonderfully graceful woman she had grown into. So, my sincere prayer of comfort and peace is extended to Pam's entire family. May God bless you and keep you in His care. Sincerely,
Arnett Howard
