Keane, Patricia
1937 - 2018
Patricia Ann Keane, 80, of Powell, Ohio, died Thursday, February 8, 2018 at her home after a brief battle with brain cancer. She was the wife of William R. Keane, Jr for 52 years and they spent close to 45 years residing in the Harrisburg area. Born in Shenandoah, PA she was the eldest of four children of the late Bernard G. Ramer, Sr. and Agnes Petrewicz Ramer. She is predeceased in death by her brother Bernard G. Ramer, Jr. and sister Josita Cusack. She was an active member of St. Joan of Arc Church, Powell, Ohio and involved with their Quilters Group Ministry creating and donating quilted projects for those in need. Previously, while living in Harrisburg, was also a member of Holy Name of Jesus Church. In her retirement she also was a regular weekly volunteer for Pinnacle Health Women's Center and active in a local quilting guild. Pat was a 1956 graduate of Shenandoah Catholic High School and a proud graduate in 1959 of Philadelphia General Hospital School of Nursing - PGH as she fondly referred to her training program and first few years of employment as a graduate nurse. She took a pause in her nursing career to raise her family and then worked at the former Polyclinic Hospital for a bit then shifted to home care nursing thru the Visiting Nurse Association of Central PA. She served VNA for 25 years until her retirement in 2002. It was in retirement that Pat turned her love of sewing into making and creating quilted projects for family and friends far and wide. Surviving, in addition to her husband, are daughter, Kimberly Keane DeNick, MD and her husband, Jeff DeNick and children, Jack, Anna and Samuel of Marlton, NJ; son, Kevin Keane and his wife, Jennifer Keane and children, Arron and Jesse of Copenhagen, Denmark; and son, Kerry Keane and his wife, Stella Keane and children, Matthew, Kerry Jr., Josephine, and Julianna of Powell, OH. Also survived by her sister, Nancy Herrity of Kill Devil Hills, NC; sister-in-law, Patricia Ramer of Barnesville, PA; sister-in-law, Donna Gorman of Richmond, VA; brother/sister-in-law, Jim and Joyce Endsley of Harrisburg, PA; plus dozens and dozens of nieces and nephews from the extended Keane and Ramer family. Friends and family may call on the family during a viewing at Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home at 4100 Jonestown Rd, Harrisburg, PA between 6-8pm on Thursday, February 15. In celebration and honor of all Pat's prolific creative quilting and sewing the family requests that guests who have been the recipient of Pat's fine sewing and quilting work please bring a picture of her work gifted to you as well as the actual article to view. We would also like to drape the pews of the church with her creative works for all to see during her service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Friday, February 16 at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church, 6150 Allentown Blvd, Harrisburg, PA. An additional opportunity for a viewing and visitation will be available in the hour prior to the Mass in the lobby of Holy Name of Jesus. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in West Hanover Township at a later date.
