Saunders Patricia (Shively) Saunders, age 89, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2013 at her home in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband Floyd Saunders, her grandson Levi Stephens, and her eldest daughter Terry (Zoe) Parsons. She left behind her daughters, Judy Stephens and Nancy Saunders; and her grandchildren, Misty Taylor, Aaron Stephens and Amanda Saunders; and her great grandson, Chris North. She was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio and graduated from North High School in 1941. She was one of the founders of the North High Women's Alumnae Association, and was an active member who helped organize the reunions for many years and was instrumental in getting the polar bear statue installed at the Columbus Zoo. She married her high school sweetheart, Floyd Saunders, who also attended North High School. He was a member of the USAF so she spent most of her life moving from state to state. She was a special person that made lasting friends wherever she went, and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. Family was important to her and she was devoted to her three daughters, her grandchildren and her only great grandson. She took much pride in all of their accomplishments. A celebration of her life will be held Monday, 11 a.m. at SOUTHWICK-GOOD & FORTKAMP FUNERAL CHAPEL, 3100 N. High St., where visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Interment Union Cemetery. www.southwickfuneral.com
