Poling Patricia Y. Poling, age 84, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Wednesday, September 11, 2013. Pat was born in Wickliffe, Ohio, April 8, 1929, to Robert and Isabelle Young. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister Dorothy Jameson. Pat is survived by brother, Terry Young of Dallas, Texas; brother-in-law, Henry Jameson of Akron, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Tom Rice of Mount Vernon; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Tatyana Poling of Columbus; son, Chris Poling of Columbus; daughter-in-law, Pam Poling; grandchildren, Katie, Amy, and Tommy Rice, Carly and Connor Poling and Mark Poling. Pat was a long-time member of Brookwood Presbyterian Church, singing in the choir and serving on the Board of Deacons. She was a teacher, beginning her career teaching second grade in the Worthington School System in the 1950s. She then was a tutor for Columbus Public Schools and taught kindergarten for many years at Heyl Avenue Elementary School. Pat loved being a mom and loved people (especially children!) and also animals, and the five Brittany Spaniels that were family pets. She cherished her Scottish heritage and loved traveling to Scotland, other parts of Europe, and the American west. A very special thank you to the caring, dedicated, skillful, and courageous staffs of The Forum at Knightsbridge and Wesley Ridge. Memorial Service for Pat on Monday, September 23 at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Brookwood Presbyterian Church. Rev. John E. Birkner officiating. Private family interment at Ira Cemetery, Bath Township, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brookwood Presbyterian Church, 2685 E. Livingston Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43209.
