Phyllis Rike Meadows, passed into Heaven on Monday, July 31, 2017 at Westminster-Thurber at the age of 96. She was born September 14, 1920 in Akron, Ohio, to Leslie Chalmers and Mabel Elizabeth Rike. She moved to the Piqua, Ohio area where she lived till she moved to Columbus, Ohio in 1932. She attended Indianola Elementary School, Mound Street Jr. High, and graduated from Central High School in1938. After a year at Bliss Business College, she worked for Lattimer-Stevens Company until 1946. She then was fortunate to be hired by World Christian Endeavor in November 1946 until her retirement. She held various executive positions among her 30 years of service. On November 20, 1980 she married Bishop Dr. Clyde W. Meadows. Phyllis dedicated her life to the Lord and was fortunate enough to work for an organization that gave her the ability to work for the Lord. Both Clyde and Phyllis were active leaders in the Christian movement. She is survived by her step daughter, Una Joyce Kauffman, Bermuda Run, NC; grandchildren, Bradley (Melody) Broome, West Palm Beach, FL, Carter (Sylvia) Broome, Atlanta, GA, Wesley Broome, AZ, Joseph Fox, Columbus, OH; great-grandchildren, Caylin (James) Finlayson, Atlanta, GA, Sebastian Broome, Atlanta, GA and Sophia Fox, Columbus, OH. Private Graveside Service Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. A Memorial Service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 2017 in the Chapel at Westminster-Thurber Retirement Community, 717 Neil Avenue, Columbus, OH 43215 with Chaplain Mark Arni and Pastor Al Carter officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Phyllis Rike Meadows may be made to Huntington University, 2303 College Avenue, Huntington, IN 46750 or to World's Christian Endeavor Union, 403 E.
