Rayalene Alice Brizendine, 84, of Grove City, Ohio, passed peacefully into eternal life surrounded by love on March 31, 2018. Born October 30, 1933 in Beckley, West Virginia, she was preceded in glory by her parents Russell Raymond and Marjorie Bailey, her brother Raymond Bailey, her daughter Billie Hawks, and family loved one, Eva Mae Matheny. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, William Brizendine; sons, Jim (Sue) Brizendine and Bob (Sheri) Brizendine; grandchildren, Corinne Winters, Justin (Sarah) Hawks, Erica Brizendine (Grace Loflin), Tim (Jennifer) Brizendine, Emilee Brizendine, Elayna Brizendine, Mackenzie McGonigle, Nicholas McGonigle, Quinton McGonigle, and Mia McGonigle; and seven great grandchildren; sisters, Raymona (Ralph) Marlow and Raychel (Frank) Houston. Rayalene was a member of the Southwestern Church of Christ in Grove City, where she studied and applied God's word daily in pursuit of His will for her life, and through her life, taught others what she learned. She loved her annual trips to Marco Island, Florida where she and Bill and loved ones shared countless glorious sunsets. She loved every chance to be with family, especially Saturday breakfasts and outings, and Friday garage and estate sales, which she called "Golden Girling". Rayalene retired from the South-Western City School District where she influenced countless students and staff, serving many years as a teacher, guidance counsellor, district administrator, and assistant high school principal. She was a member of Phi Delta Kappa, through which she travelled much of the world. Rayalene received a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Marshall University, and a Master's Degree in Education from THE Ohio State University. She loved her Buckeyes! Rayalene was a 35 and 25 year survivor of breast cancer, and consistently participated in the and the Relay for Life. Family will receive friends on Tuesday, April 3 from 5-8 PM at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 3920 Broadway, Grove City, and on Wednesday, April 4 from 11 AM-1 PM at the Southwestern Church of Christ, 3767 Grove City Road, Grove City with funeral service immediately following. Interment at Sunset Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks for the comfort and care of Mt. Carmel Hospice, and the members of the Southwestern Church of Christ.
