1929 - 2017
Raymond M. Detty, age 88 of Canal Winchester, passed away December 29, 2017 at Pickering House Hospice. He retired from Carpenters Union Local #200, and owned Ray Detty and Sons and was also a locksmith. He was a US Army WW II Veteran, assigned to A Troop 7th Calvary during the occupation of Japan. He received the Army WW II Good Conduct Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, American Campaign Medal and the WW II Victory Medal. Ray was Past Master of the Southgate-Potter Lodge #792 F& AM, he was a member of AASR, Aladdin Shrine Temple, Walnut Chapter #172 RAM, Hillbilly Shriner Clan #7 Outhouse #2, American Legion Post #220, Canal Winchester VFW Harold R. Day Post #10523, and was a member of the Canal Winchester Alumni Scholarship Association and the USAC. Ray Attended Faith Memorial UM Church. Preceded in death by his son Steven Detty and grandson Corey Patric.. Survived by his wife Patricia "Patty"; children Sharon (Ron) Lunn, Gregg (Christine) Detty, Karen Detty, Becky (Chauncey) Morey and Tim Detty; 14 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; sisters Ruth Aycock and Thelma Wolf. Friends may visit on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with a Masonic Service at 8:00PM at The Dwayne R. Spence Funeral Home 650 West Waterloo St. Canal Winchester, Ohio 43110, where funeral service will be held 10:30 AM Thursday, January 4, 2018, with Pastor Mel Truex officiating.
