MOORE (McATEE) Rebecca (Becky) Jane McAtee Moore, age 85, of Groveport, passed away after a brief illness surrounded by her family on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital. Born August 3, 1924, she was a lifelong resident of Columbus, Oh. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Harriett (Grashel) McAtee, brother William McAtee, and her husband of 36 years, John R. Moore. Becky was a graduate of South High School (1942) and The Ohio State University (BA, 1945; MA, 1977). She retired from Columbus Public Schools after 36 years of teaching in the elementary classroom and remedial reading program. Co-founder of Selections Book Fairs and Cover-to-Cover Books for Young Readers bookstore. Long-time member of Broad Street Christian Church, she was the first female elder as well as the first female congregational president. Member of the Christian Women's Fellowship at BSCC, Bexley Women's Club and Cancer Ray. She was a woman ahead of her time and will be dearly missed by many friends, relatives and her family. She is survived by daughters, Ellen Moore and Laurie (Edward) Marsh; her beloved granddaughters, Emily and Lindsey Marsh; and her little pal, Roxie. A service of memory will be celebrated by officiants Rev John W. Shearer, Rev Joy Omslaer, and Rev Dr LaTaunya M. Bynum on Sunday, August 30, 2009, 3 p.m. at Broad Street Christian Church, 1049 E. Broad St., Columbus, Oh. 43205. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Broad Street Christian Church or a charity of your choice. Arrangemens by WOODYARD EAST CHAPEL.
