Richard Allen Lindsay Obituary
Lindsay Richard Allen Lindsay, age 83, went home to be with the Lord June 25, 2017. He was born on August 1, 1932 in Buffalo, NY son to the late Charles P. Lindsay and Doris M. (Whaley) Fairall. Faithful member of First Baptist Church of Grove City. Retired Lieutenant from Upper Arlington Police Department with 32 years of service. He was a graduate of the FBI National Academy, Quantico, VA and lifetime member of the Ohio Chapter of the FBI, National Academy Associates. Completed the Ohio Police Training Academy of London, OH, Southern Police Institute of Louisville, KY, Case Western Reserve University course in Cleveland, OH, Columbus Police Department course, Ohio Attorney General Office course, among many others. He was previously the President of the Franklin County Law Enforcement Association, and the Society for Scientific Detection of Crime. Also, retired from Worthington Steel after ten years. Was in the 1st Calvary during the Korean War serving two years in Japan. Member of the American Legion, Post 0532. Lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #9, and the Police/Fire Retirees of Ohio. He is survived by his loving wife, Freda of 62 years. Preceded in death by sisters Phyllis A. (George) Marsh, and Sally A. Leach. Surviving family members include, twin daughters, Sheryl J. (Jerry) Conkel, and Sandra L. (Michael) Ball. Wonderful grandchildren, Amy C. (Matthew) Girard, Sarah M. (Seth) Mastrine, Jacob and Jeremy Ball, Brian and Christopher Ball, Angela (Kevin) Smith; great grandchildren, Lilyana and Jet Girard, Keaton Mastrine, Addison and Owen Smith; and many nieces and nephews. He enjoyed reading, especially his bible which he read entirely each year. Loved gardening, fishing, and spending time with his family. Richard was very loved and will be deeply missed. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 28, 2017 at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 3393 Broadway, Grove City, starting at 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Obetz Cemetery.
