Schofield Robert Eugene Schofield, age 75, of Columbus, Ohio, died Monday, June 26, 2017 at Mt. Carmel West Hospital in Columbus. Born August 22, 1941, in Lebanon, Indiana, Bob Schofield was a licensed pilot, and worked many years in Avionics. After retirement Bob opened an Avionics shop (RES Avionics) at the Madison County airport where he installed radios and radar equipment. He also enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, which he did competitively for many years. A 1959 graduate of Pike High School in Indianapolis, Bob also enjoyed boating, fishing, dancing, science fiction, and fast cars. In his youth, he raced the "Silver Chalice", his 1957 Chevy Bel Air coupe. Bob is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Opal (Staton) and his sister Sharon. He was especially fond of his great-grandson, Avery, who lived with him and his wife, Dottie for a while. Bob is also survived by his sons, Robert and Gaven; and daughters, Kristyn and Meghan; wife, Dottie Lou (Smith); step-son, Brian Anderson; and numerous other grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a viewing at the O.R. WOODYARD FUNERAL HOME at 1346 S.
