1941 - 2017 Obituary Condolences
Wasem Roberta M. Wasem, 75, of Lancaster, passed away Thursday, April 27, 2017 at the OSU Medical Center. She was born September 29, 1941 in Lancaster, OH to the late Robert T. and Mae E. (Stebleton) Shupe. Roberta was a graduate of Amanda H.S. and Ohio University-Lancaster. She worked for 10 years in the office of the Late Dr. F. C. Ayers of Amanda, and later as a librarian at Pickerington Elementary School for 14 years. She was a storyteller, preforming for many years with the group DO TELL. Roberta belonged to a neighborhood Euchre group and was a member of the Fairfield County Chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society and volunteered at the Genealogy Library. She spent many happy years working on genealogy. She is survived by her husband of over 50 years, Lewis E. Wasem, whom she married on June 18, 1966; daughters, Traci Fox of Lancaster and Kelli (fiancé, Mark Campbell) Dennis of Pickerington; grandchildren, Dakota and Willow Fox and Emily Dennis; sister, Rita (Steve) Hummel of Chillicothe; brothers, Ramon (Elsie) Shupe, and Bob (Dianna) Shupe, both of Amanda; sister-in-law, Judy Shupe, also of Amanda; and many nieces and nephews including god children, Renata Quijada and Renee Geyer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister Karen and her brother Rex. Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2017 at the TAYLOR FUNERAL HOME in Amanda with Rev. Diana Gugel officiating. Cremation will follow and a private burial at Amanda Twp. Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call Sunday from 2-7 p.m. and one hour prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fairfield County Chapter of Ohio Genealogical Society, the Kidney Foundation, or the in Roberta's memory.
