Roger Russell Obituary

RUSSELL Roger W. Russell "NasNaga", born in Dayton, OH. Sunrise April 13, 1941 - Sunset July 7, 2012. Survived by loving wife, Barbara; brother, Ron (Karen K.); cousin, Bob Bruin (Kim); longtime friend, Panji Pope (Tom G.); other friends and relatives. Preceded in death by parents Kitty and Bill, beloved grandmother Mary, friend Joe Day, mentor Dr. Don Worcester, TCU. Veteran USN 1959-63. Throughout his youth and adult life he championed American Indian causes through his writings, articles, illustrations, poems and lectures. He's been profiled in the Marquis Who's Who books in America and the world since 2002. This brilliant, gifted, complex man, with the wry sense of humor, fiery eyes and generous heart, was loved and will be forever missed, but his works live on. His heart Jaime Noelle. Shawnee Autumn forever. God bless.

My name is Jack. I was sitting at my computer and looked up at the bookshelf right at a book written by and personally signed by Nas' Naga.
That book has been sitting there for thirty years!.
I knew Roger when we worked together at Rickenbacher Terrace Apartments on the west side of Columbus. This was approximately around 1970-1978 time..
We shared some interesting times
together.
I also have an original sketch Roger made for me that is titled "The War Chief".

I was sadened to hear about Roger's passing.
