Roger White Obituary
White, Roger
1933 - 2018
It is with deep and profound sadness we announce the passing of Roger White, a gentleman and kind soul whose love touched and embraced all who knew him. His unique sense of humor endeared him to many. Roger was humble in his achievements but his family is proud of his many accomplishments as well as his bravery as he struggled with the complications from a traumatic brain injury. After Roger graduated from North High School, he entered the United States Navy and graduated from the aerial photography school in Pensacola, Florida. He was then stationed in Washington DC to take and develop aerial photos of government landmarks. After service in the Navy, Roger returned to Columbus to attend Ohio State University School of Pharmacy and joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. As a graduating senior Roger received the prestigious Johnson and Johnson Award. Roger then devoted his entire career to the health of families, generous with his time and care for others. As a respected pharmacist he owned and managed five independent pharmacies and was a clinical professor at the College of Pharmacy. He had high standards for himself and shared them with his interns. The students selected him Community Pharmacist of the Year to thank him for his service. Roger was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association and the Ohio Pharmacist Association. As a member of the Academy of Pharmacy of Central Ohio he served as treasurer and president. Roger enjoyed life on his own unique terms. He loved to travel all over the world, take photos, dance, boat on Lake Cumberland and Lake Erie, play Uno, lead the neighborhood children in Script Ohio, and party with his family and friends. He especially enjoyed tailgates before OSU games and watching sunsets on Siesta Key beach with a gin and tonic in hand. He was a proud family man and cherished the times with his children and grandchildren, always eager to hear of their accomplishments. Each of them had a special place in his heart. Roger is preceded in death by his mother Carmen, his father Olin, and his sister Marilyn. He is survived by the family he treasured: Paula (Di Paolo), his wife of 53 years; his daughter, Wendy; his son, Andy (Amelia Nicklaus); his grandsons, Olin, Brennan and Liam White; many in-laws, nieces and nephews from the Keefe, Ryan, Murphy, Montavon, Avery, Hoyle, Morely, Gibson, Palma, Di Paolo, Bennett, Nicklaus and Galvin families. Roger lived a life that was a model of integrity and character. He will be deeply and forever missed. A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in his memory to Kobacker House, 800 McConnell Drive, Columbus, Ohio 43214. To share memories or send condolences, please visit www.schoedinger.com. Arrangements entrusted to SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL.
