Rardon, Ronald
Ronald D. Rardon, age 83, of Upper Arlington, died Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Columbus to the late Doyne and Annabelle Rardon and was married to Shirley Webb from 1956 until her death in 1969. Preceded in death also by sister Suzanne Preston. Survived by wife, Elaine; son, Daryll (Barbara) and their children, Cole, Allison, and Jack. Ron graduated from Upper Arlington High School in the class of 1952 where he lettered in baseball and football, and was the manager of the basketball team. He attended The Ohio State University where he was a letterman on the fencing squad and a member of Delta Chi fraternity, and also attended Franklin University. Ron played semi-pro baseball in the Heart of Ohio league, playing catcher. Ron was drafted into the Army, and served as combat engineer at Fort Leonard Wood. He then trained reserves at Camp McCoy. Following military service Ron and his father started a business; first building homes in Upper Arlington, then becoming the Ohio distributor for Airkem / Airwick products. Ron was a charter member at Muirfield Village Golf Club and served as the Director of Scoring Control Committee for the Memorial Tournament for years. As a longtime member at Scioto Country Club, Ron served on the board of trustees, on the golf committee and was chair of the senior golf events. He loved Upper Arlington and volunteered in many capacities in the community. He was a board member of the Harry C. Moores Foundation. Ron was an avid golfer, sports fan, and loved the Buckeyes. He was the ultimate gentleman and had a great sense of humor. Family will receive friends 1-2 and 3-5 pm Friday, November 24 at the Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, where a memorial service will be held at 2 pm that day.
