Samuel Johnson Obituary
Johnson Samuel Johnson, age 7, was born on October 11, 2009 and passed away peacefully on May 21, 2017 at 6:26 a.m. after a 5 year battle against neuroblastoma, with his mother and father holding his hands. At 6:24 a.m., he looked to his left and said "yes". We believe that his friends from the oncology floor at Nationwide Children's Hospital asked him to come with them to heaven to run and play once more. Known the world over as "Super Sammy," he was loved by all who met him. He had an infectious smile, giggle, and beautiful hazel eyes. He loved Disney, Minecraft, Superheroes, and of course Cheetos. Though his time at Woodward Elementary school was short, he made many friends and was loved by his teachers. He is survived by his mother, Martha Holbrook; his father, Roger "Danny" Johnson; his siblings, Roger, Isadora, William, Alexander, Alice, George, Charles and Hazel. He is also survived by his Godmother, Lucy Balivia; his godbrother, Lawrence "Mickey" Detty; and godsister, Camellia Simmons. Also survived by his Uncle Thomas Stiltner; Aunt Rebecca Stiltner and her daughters, Christina (Martin), Cassandra (Justice), Clarissa, and Catherine; and cousins, Thomas and Camryn. His mother's sister, Elizabeth Thacker and children and his mother's brother, William Thacker and wife, Amy. The Johnson Family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all of the pediatric cancer foundations and online donors who assisted the family throughout the years. We would also like to thank our oncology social worker, Faye Bullio, Dr. Mark Ranalli, the oncology clinic and floor nurses, in particular Jennifer, Janet, Kayla, and Micah, as well as palliative care nurse Amanda. We extend our thanks to the PCA's and volunteers Kaylin and Christina, and the Sibling Clubhouse staff and volunteers for being so good to Sammy's siblings. There are many other staff members whose names we may not remember, but whose faces we will never forget. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make donations to Gamerosity, AngelWorks, The Friends of Faith Pruden Foundation, The Sam Bish Foundation and NC4K in Sammy's Honor. Services will be held Thursday, June 1 at Highpoint Nazarene Church. 795 Pollock Rd., Delaware, OH 43015. Public visitation from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m., with his service to follow at 1 p.m. A balloon release immediately following (2ish). Graveside to follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Directly following his graveside service, return to church for celebration of life banquet. Messages may be sent to his family by visiting www.cotnerfuneralhome.com
