Shirley Laugtug Obituary
Laugtug, Shirley
1923 - 2017
Shirley Lorraine Laugtug came to this world on May 10, 1923 and left us on November 14 at the age of 94. She was born to Lyle and Bertha Cammon in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At age 19 she married her high school sweetheart Neal Wicke. She worked in an office with the Merchant Marines during the war and later gave birth to the first of her three sons. She attended modeling school and eventually became a nurse through a diploma school. She married Erling Laugtug in 1950 and they had two sons. She worked as an LPN with newborns until she moved to Columbus. There she worked as the sole office nurse/manager for Dr. Robert Bohl, a cardiologist until she retired in 1990. She then did volunteer work for Riverside Hospital until her death. Shirley was a very active woman; a full time nurse and housewife, she always found time to sew, be a Cub Scout den mother and a room-mother for her sons as they attended grade school. She loved swing music; she played bridge, had dance clubs in her home, joined bowling and golf teams, made many quilts and even played croquet in the snow every Thanksgiving. She loved her dogs: Paddy, Caesar, Cleo, Samantha, Sadie and finally Sophie. She is survived by her three sons, Steve (wife, Valerie) Brad (wife, Rosa) and Jim; her grandchildren, Arin, Abbie, Sarah and Brett; and great granddaughter, Ruby. Family will receive friends on Sunday, November 26 from 11 am-2 pm at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Rd, Columbus, OH. Shirley's remains will be interned at the beautiful Fort Snelling Cemetery in Mpls., Minn. alongside her husband Erling. Please visit www.schoedinger.com to send condolences and share memories.
