Sue Day Obituary
Day, Sue
The Reverend Sue Carolyn Day (Hough) went to be with the Lord on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 85, surrounded by her four children. She was preceded in death by her parents Russell and Helen Hough, her first husband Bud Crable, and an infant daughter Deborah Day. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Jerry) Gilliland of Upper Arlington, OH and Dedra (Bob) Allomong of Chandler, AZ; her sons, Douglas (Marcie) Day and David (Denna) Day of Gahanna, OH; as well as four granddaughters, five grandsons, two great-granddaughters, and one great-grandson. A native of Springfield, OH, Sue graduated from Wittenberg University with a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies and a teaching certificate. Sue was a life-long learner and after moving to Upper Arlington, OH, she continued her studies at The Iliff School of Theology, The Methodist Theological Seminary in Ohio, Ohio Dominican College, The Ohio State University, and Capital University. In 1989, she earned her Master of Divinity and Master of Christian Education and was ordained by the Christian Church Disciples of Christ denomination. Reverend Day worked as an editor at Chemical Abstracts Services and a special education teacher for the Grove City School District. Sue loved music and drama, and performed in various amateur productions over the years. She was actively involved in the Worthington Chorus, Vaud-Villities, the St. Joseph's Cathedral Choir, the Our Lady of Victory Choir, and the G-Clef chorus at the Gillie Center. An avid adventurer, Sue traveled the world fearlessly, visiting such places as Wales, the Holy Land, Rome, and even China. Proud of her heritage, Sue was also a lifetime member of The Welsh Society of Central Ohio. The Reverend Day was a long-time member of First Community Church, and also called Our Lady of Victory and Saint Andrew Christian Church her home. She served in several local congregations while earning her divinity degree. She loved God and trusted in His Word. A service in her memory will be held Saturday, August 5, 2017, at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary of First Community Church's South Campus (1320 Cambridge Boulevard, Columbus, Ohio 43212). The family suggests memorial donations be sent to LifeCare Alliance of Columbus (www.lifecarealliance.org). Arrangements by RUTHERFORD-CORBIN FUNERAL HOME.
