Thelma Cecilia Felkner, age 87, died peacefully on November 25, 2017 at home after a long illness. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and friend to many and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, George; their six children, Genevieve Meszaros, Joe (Cinda), Mary (Dick) Poczik, William (Kate), Amy (Mike) Gates, and Rebecca; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; sister, Leona Eyerman; brother, Bill (Marie) Sauer; sister-in-law, Gennie Bowman; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Thelma was preceded in death by parents John and Cecelia Sauer, sisters Sr. Christine Anne O. Carm and Mary McComb, and brother Jack. Thelma was born and raised in the South End of Columbus where she and George raised their family. An active member of St. Leo Catholic Church, past president of the Altar Rosary Society, room mother to several of her children's classes, den mother to several Scout groups. Member of Christ the King Catholic Church for the past 32 years, employed by their Children's Center for several years. Thelma was a life-long, outstanding Euchre player and is undoubtedly enjoying a card party with her loved ones in heaven. The family would like to give a heartfelt thanks to Thelma's caregivers Cheryl Howard and Rose Nkeng for their dedicated care that provided support not only to Thelma but also to the entire family. We cannot thank them enough. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2-4 and 6-8pm at the MAEDER-QUINT-TIBERI Funeral Home, 1068 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43206. Rosary 3:45pm. Friends and family will meet for Mass of Christian Burial 10am Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, 2777 E. Livingston Ave., Columbus, OH 43209, where procession will form. Father David Schalk, celebrant. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery immediately following. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mt. Carmel Hospice or St. Leo Preservation Society.
