Theodore "Ted" McCord Obituary
McCord Theodore "Ted" McCord passed from this world early Monday morning, July 3, 2017. He was a resident at Danbury Sr. Living for the last 3 months. He was born on June 23, 1929 in Columbus. He is predeceased by his father Lawrence D., mother Clarise V. Sowards, brothers Lawrence D. Jr. Joseph B., Thomas and Richard Sowards, and son-in-law Gene Spence. He is survived by his daughter, Deborah Spence of Albuquerque NM; grandson, Matt Miller of Columbus, OH; and three great granddaughters; and a great, great grandson. Ted retired from the U.S. Postal Service with 30 years of service. He was active in the Linden Lodge #637 F.& A.M. for over 46 years; Scottish Rite, Valley of Columbus; and Aladdin Temple Shrine, where he belonged to the Registrar's Unit and Court #9 R.O.J. He was well known for the many hours of volunteer time at the Greek Festival, Muirfield Golf Tournament, Shrine Circus and Children's Christmas Party, Delaware County Fair and his commitment to the Shrine Burns Hospitals. He was active in the NAPUS Post Office organization, both state wide and national levels. He served as Post Master at several Central Ohio locations. Calling hours are Sunday, July 9 from 3-4 p.m. at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL at 6699 North High St. Worthington, OH 43085, 614-848-6699. Masonic service at 4 p.m. and rites of Christian burial conducted by Pastor Rick Negley will follow. Those who might want to donate; the Shrines' Cincinnati Children Hospital Burns Center has been designated. Ted will be sadly missed by his wide circle of friends.
