Obituary Condolences

Porter Theodore "Ted" Porter, age 77, of Canal Winchester, passed away at his residence on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Ted retired as a Battalion Chief in 1998 from the Columbus Division of Fire, where he served for 33 years. He was a US Air Force Veteran, a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church of Groveport, and a regular attendee of the Canal Winchester McDonald's Old-Timers' Coffee Club. Ted is preceded in death by his parents Thadeus and Mary Viola Porter, brothers Bower and Joseph Porter, sisters June Anderson and Bonna Lee Porter. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon Porter; sons, Daniel (Tammy) Porter, Brian Porter, Randall (Julie) Porter and Ronald (Denise) Porter; daughters, Deborah Reese and Jennifer (Jeremy) Nye; brother, Robert (Pam) Porter; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends may visit on Friday from 4-8 p.m. and on Saturday from 10 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Groveport, 5521 Groveport Rd., Groveport, Ohio, with Dr. Gregory E. Cooper officiating. Entombment will follow at Lithopolis Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Groveport in Ted's memory.
