Nash, Thomas 1928—2018
Thomas J. Nash, age 89, of Zanesville, died at 9:30 PM Thursday, January 25, 2018, at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville. He was born Monday, December 17, 1928, in New Lexington, the son of Francis B. Nash and Geraldine L. (Gordon) Nash. He was married on Saturday, July 14, 1951, to Helen C. (Stenson) Nash who survives. He was an active member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church where he was a great supporter of Catholic Schools of Zanesville, and the St. Nicholas Festival. Tom served his country in the United States Army. He was a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 505, where he was instrumental in the Y-City Gun Fest fundraiser. He was a member of the American Legion, Mended Hearts and was honored by Forever Dads Tribute to Fatherhood. Tom was the former owner of Zanesville Fabricators and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Tom is survived by his wife of the home; six daughters, Cathy (Michael) Burkhart of Zanesville, Michele (Geary) Danison of Somerset, Rosemary (Charles) Pfeifer of Gulfport, FL, Linda (Tony) Coury of Zanesville, Janet (Patrick) Donnelly of Core, WV, and Mary Ann Nash of Zanesville; five sons, Martin (Ellen) Nash of Fairplay, SC, Michael (Susan) Nash of Zanesville, Christopher L. (Nancy) Nash of Gainesville, GA, Joseph (Nancy) Nash of Zanesville, and Dennis Nash of St. Charles, MO; twenty-nine grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; five sisters, Adelaide Gable of New Lexington, Charlotte Reott of Madison, WI, Mary Eleanor Schmelzer of Lancaster, Geri Lou Kilbarger of Bremen, and Connie Hughes of Lancaster; two brothers, Richard Nash of New Lexington and William Nash of Lancaster; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Patricia Nash, son Bernard Nash and granddaughter Jessica Nash. Friends may call from 2-7 PM on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at the Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville, where a Christian Vigil Service will be held at 6:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 29, 2018, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, 925 East Main Street, Zanesville, with Father Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the Mt. Olive Cemetery, Zanesville, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Bishop Rosecrans High School, 1040 E.
