Toran Vera B. Toran, 92, passed away peacefully on the morning of April 29, 2013 from lung cancer. She was born November 28, 1920 in Whitehall, Illinois. She graduated valedictorian of her class at Whitehall High School. Gained her Bachelor's degree from MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois and her Master's degree in Economics from the University of Kentucky. She was married for 49 years to William B. Toran. Worked for 30 years doing income taxes at Universal Tax. Was a long time Friday docent for the Columbus Museum of Art. She loved to travel and made trips to Asia, Europe and other corners of the world. She was an avid bridge player up until a month prior to her passing. She was preceded in death by her husband who died in 1998. She is survived by her two daughters, Carey Toran and Laura Toran and her son Jay Toran. Service to be at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 93 W. Weisheimer Rd. on May 18, at 4:30 p.m. Contributions to the Unitarian Universalist Church or the Columbus Museum of Art appreciated, in lieu of flowers.
