The faithful servant, Vincent S. Williams Sr., 86, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 22, 2017, at the Crowne Pointe Care Center. Vincent was born June 25, 1931, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Sidney and Anna Williams. He was the third born in a family of six children, four brothers, and one sister. He graduated from Ben Franklin High School in 1949. After high school, at age 18, Vincent joined the Air Force where he served from 1949-1953 as a Dope and Fabric Technician. After his military service, he received additional education at Television Training Institute from 1953-1956. For 35+ years Vincent worked as a skilled TV Technician. Most of his employment/work history spent between running his own business (Empire Television) or working for Sun TV and Appliance. Vincent married Florence (Clayton) Williams in 1952 and blessed with four children, Vincent Jr., Ronald, Donna, and Peter. In 1967, he married Charlotte (Carter) Williams and with that union came Marvin and Clarissa. They were blessed with his youngest son, Dwight. Vincent was a true man of God who faithfully served the Lord as deacon at Second Community Church. He sang in the choir and loved being active in the church serving wherever he could. His love for the Lord led him to be Chaplain for the Capital City Chapter 3 (). He enjoyed serving and taking numerous trips with the . Vincent was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and the Boy Scouts. He served as Scout Master for many years. Vincent was preceded in death by his parents Sidney and Anna, wife Charlotte Carter Williams, sister Alice Starnes, brother Stanley Williams and grandson Vincent S. Williams III. He was survived by his seven children, Vincent S. Williams Jr. (Vida), Ronald Williams (Jennifer), Donna Williams, Peter Williams (Redonda), Marvin Williams, Clarissa Williams and Dwight Williams; nine grandchildren, Antonio Williams (Trace), Ila-Camille Bibb, Malika Williams, Aliyah Williams, Shakira Williams, Keziah Lewis, Dakota Williams, Brianna Swain and Nikkia Swain; two great grandsons, Marquis Williams and Dawson Humes; siblings, Anthony Williams (Pauline), Edward Williams, Joseph Williams (Gwen); many nieces, nephews and loved ones. Friends will be received 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at HOPE & HEART FUNERAL HOME by Schoedinger, 3030 West Broad Street; funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 26, 2017 at Second Community Church, 311 S. Highland Avenue with Dr. Charlene Watkins, Senior Pastor officiating. Interment Wesley Chapel Cemetery.
