Even when writing a sentence took more time and effort for him than I might spend painting the porch, Bill continued to give me advice and counsel. ALS had to take a backseat to the strength, will-power and spirit of Bill Croy!

Sorry for your loss Croy family.
I am a member of Trinity UMC in Lima & came back off & on for services while Bill was there & really
liked him as a minister & great guy.
I live in Columbus & my parents
were Wendell & Louise Ridgley so
would come home to visit & go to
church with my mom. Hated it when
you left the church. I had heard
something about bill being sick &
thought about him going thru this & was sorry he had to get that
disease & all the pain.
RIP Bill & you will be missed.

Dorothy and family,
Deb and I were sorry to hear of your loss. Bill and I go back to our days at ONU and more recently working together for ONU. He was always kind and considerate when talking about others and especially ONU. His life was an example of Christian love and compassion, which is something that is missing in much of our society. I am sorry I never heard him preach a sermon, but his life was definitely one that all could see. Your family is in our prayers and we will look forward to seeing Bill again. May God grant you strength and peace in this time of loss.

Bill,

I looked up to you in high school, and have used your thoughts on family and life in my adult years to navigate life's travails. You never steered me wrong. You will be missed.

I've known Bill since we competed against each other in high school track back in 1967. Pick-up and church league basketball after that. One of the finest, most thoughtful, compassionate and quietly inspirational people I ever met. Will be truly missed by countless friends and admirers in Lima. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of the family.

January 31, 2015

So very sorry for your loss. Bill was our youth leader at Grace United Methodist Church, Lima, when I was in junior high. He was a huge influence and I've always remembered him. Then, as fate would have it, Dorothy was a teacher at Allen East when my son was in school there (Phillip Krites). My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Dorothy and Family,
Bill was such a special part of our lives. He was my youth group leader so many years ago at Lima Trinity. Then he convinced me to help him as a female youth counselor for high school girls from Trinity at Institute in Lakeside. Bill introduced me to my future husband that week. Each time we attended Annual Conference we looked forward to catching up with Bill. He will be truly missed.

I met Rev. Croy when he officiated my mother's funeral at Maple Grove. He spent a lot of time with my sister and I asking questions about her childhood and early life before he knew her so that he could make her service very personal. It was clear that he was a very kind and genuine man. My condolences to his family.

Bill was a super guy as you well know. We lived in the same neighborhood when we were at Shawnee UMC. Barb and I did not know anything about Bill's illness until I received this email. I retired 17 years ago but started ministry at Maple Grove as an assistant pastor working with youth that Bill also loved. We are now in Florida for the winter otherwise we would be at Maple Grove to celebrate his dedicated life with you. May God give you what you need to meet each day while he serves God in a new way until you join together again.

With affection,

Dorothy,
Even though I had not maintained contact with Bill after my retirement and move to Tennessee fifteen years ago, Bill had not left my memory of MANY hours of meetings working on Camping issues in West Ohio. He was a very faithful and helpful colleague.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Consider yourself hugged.
