ALMENDINGER William Fredrick Almendinger, 74, passed away Friday, July 24, 2009, as the result of an accident. He was born January 27, 1935, in Johnstown, Ohio to the late Mae (Kirk) and Mark Almendinger. A graduate of Johnstown-Monroe High School, 1954, and Muskingum College, in 1958. Bill was involved with the Mace Club, Inter-Council Club, and student government. Following college, he pursued a political career in Washington, D.C. supporting the conservative movement and the late Congressman John Milan Ashbrook. Throughout his life he was an active member of the Young Republicans at the state and national level. Bill was a member of the United Conservatives of Ohio and was affiliated with Van Meter, Ashbrook, and Associates. He was also an outside sales representative for AMG Industries of Mount Vernon. He had an insatiable thirst for history, travel, and most recently German genealogy. Looking forward to an October trip to Europe, Bill will be profoundly missed by his Allmendinger family in Horheim, Germany. He is preceded in death by niece Mary K, and great-niece Mary K Elizabeth. Survived by his loving wife and companion, Diane; daughters, Melissa (Scott) Shilling, Leslie Ann (Greg) Schweiger, and Jennifer (Max) Cartwright; grandchildren, Olivia, Victor, Anja, Ava, Kortney, Katrina, and Keymell; and former wife, Ruth Ann Booher. Bill also shared his love with specially related children, Michael Dowell, Scott (Laura) Dowell, Thomas (Greta) Dowell and Bradley Dowell; specially related grandchildren include, Jessica, Elliot, Olivia, Ean and Mitch. Brothers Gene (Saundra) and Joe (Hazel); along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and great-nieces and nephews mourn his passing. The family will receive friends Wednesday, July 29, 2009 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at CROUSE-KAUBER-SAMMONS FUNERAL HOME in Johnstown. A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 30, 2009 10 a.m. at the Johnstown Presbyterian Church.
