William "Bill" Alfred Marland, age 71, left this world that he loved on August 17, 2017. Bill was born in Columbus, OH to the late Arthur and Mary Marland, and grew up in Grandview. He is preceded in death by his sister Darlene Davis, nephew Mathew Dillon and niece Dawn Dozer. Bill will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Jane; sister, Deana (David) Dillon; brother-in-law, Ron (Patricia) Huffman; Judith (David) Womeldorff; nieces and nephews, Douglas (Lace) Davis, Darci (Hutch) Schafer, Keri (Ron) Newvine, Bradley Womeldorff, Angela Fogerty, Jennifer Huffman, and Brian (Julie) Place; as well as a host of great-nieces and nephews. Bill attended Ohio University and graduated from Franklin University. He served in the US Air Force in Misawa, Japan and was a volunteer in Honor Flight Columbus. He worked in the USO Lounge of the John Glenn Airport, and retired from 30 years of working for the Ohio Department of Transportation. Bill was a member of Xenos Christian Fellowship for 30 years. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m.-12 noon, August 26, 2017, at the SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 N. High St., where a memorial service for Bill will be held at 12 noon following the calling hours, Saturday, August 26, 2017. Bob Graham, Brother Andrew Crouthers, and Joe Berkimer will be officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date, on the gulf of Mexico in Naples, Florida. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to Heinzerling Memorial Foundation, located at 1800 Heinzerling Dr., Columbus, OH 43223.
