William "Bill" Young Meade, passed away on May 13, 2018. He was married for almost 60 years to his college sweetheart, Marjorie Kidd. He is survived by his wife; his daughters, Marcie Meade (John) Fleming, Mindy Meade (Greg) DeStefano; son, William Michael (Jessica) Meade; his sister, Mary Lynne Meade; and seven grandchildren, Holly and Jack Fleming, Michaela, Peter and Annika DeStefano, and Elin and Torsten Meade. He was born on February 5, 1934 in Indianapolis to William Arthur Meade and Martha Young. Bill came to Columbus to play baseball for The Ohio State University. As a member of the Big Ten Championship team, he traveled to play in East Asia. After graduating in 1957 from OSU, he continued to enjoy his membership in Varsity O and the Sigma Chi Fraternity; where he made lifelong friends. He had a successful 50-year career as a stock broker achieving Senior Partner at J.C. Bradford. He held many leadership roles in the community such as serving as President of The Columbus Athletic Club and The Columbus Country Club. Besides playing baseball, he was a fitness fanatic who loved running, playing basketball and golf. Bill was especially fond of wintering at his vacation home in Sarasota, Florida. His family will always be grateful for the years of love and laughter that he provided. A Memorial Service will be held at Broad Street Presbyterian, 760 E Broad St, Columbus, OH 43205, on June 1, 2018 at 11 am. Family will receive friends following the service at Columbus Country Club.
